January 4th is World Braille Day. It also happens to be Louis Braille's birthday. Louis Braille was born on January 4, 1809. Today is a day to honour him and the revolution that the Braille system has brought about in the lives of the blind.
World Braille Day was established by the United Nations to commemorate the birthday of Louis Braille, who invented the Braille system of reading and writing for the blind.
